JTB offers 'Wolf Children' area stay

Wolf Children aka 'Ookami no Kodomo Ame to Yuki' real life location is being promoted by JTB, looks like JTB is trying to tap into anime fan by making this tour package. A bit disappointed that JTB only have limited dates for the tour package but guess it is in trial period. Hope my friend have plan to go~~ I would love to go if I am in Japan now!

I really enjoyed this type of trip by going to anime location during my time spent in Japan. I remember going to Jimbocho in search of the famous Yomiko's (from Read or Die) basement bookstore with my friend who guided me around. Well sadly there is no basement when we check the elevator (lol).

Some other famous location is Lucky Star where the anime is taken place in Saitama, Tari Tari in Enoshima Island, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi in Hyogo Pref and other more like Hanasaku Iroha, OreImo and K-ON!.

Manga Festival 2013 (Singapore)

An event that clash with AFA 13 !!!! I so wanna kill those organizer >=( why why of all weekend the same week as AFA!!!!!!!!! ARGH!!!! Anyway done with my fanboy nagging~~~

So what so interesting about this mini-event???  Well you get to meet with mangaka from Beelzebub, Pokemon Adventure and Say "I Love You". However, the most notable appearance of illustrator Kei Garou aka KEI who illustrated some of VOCALOID characters like Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin & Len and Megurine Luka is the one that I got attracted to. Lets hope I can get his signature ^^v

By the way, along the Japanese book section that distribute free weekly Japanese magazine corner, there are free anime/manga postcards being distribute! Try to get it before its finish~~~

Musician - Hyadain (Music Video)

I stumble upon this partially anime/manga Music Video while browsing around youtube, the MV is very interesting and funny. It is describing about two high school boys talking about love and the trouble or situation that they would face (Sorry my Japanese wasn't that good, so I am guessing from the storyline). For example, telephone calls to money problem. Its really hilarious the way he sings and it really synced well with the animation. Worth a look for everybody =)

Short bio on the Hydain
The creator real name is Kenichi Maeyamada aka Hyadain from Osaka, Japan. He makes a lot of anime/game related music remixes and a bit of his original too. You guys can check his Youtube and Niconico Douga account to have a look:

Yui & SCANDAL Album

I was at Plaza Senayan with my co-workers for lunch and decided to drop by a music shop at the 4th or 5th floor where most of the cafe and restaurant are located. I was thinking of buying  some Jazz or Reggae album but found some J-pop albums under "World Music" section. There are mostly Koda Kumi and Ayumi Hamasaki stuff but was glad to find a Yui album and SCANDAL beside it.

So why did i buy it?? The price OF COURSE! Rp85,000 (USD 8, SGD 9)  for each album is CHEAP~~~~ I couldn't believe my luck when I was staring at the price. The content of the CD (as in lyrics, album pics) are the same as those in Japan but some Indonesian company have the license to the albums and decided to sell it cheaply to the local. I guess you cannot find this in Singapore which mostly are imported stuff so the price is very stiff >_<"

Politic + Naruto = WTF

I happened to stumble upon a political banner photo posted by an Indonesia anime group member in facebook. The dude on the banner was wearing Naruto costume (Photoshop) from neck to toe with his head looking so serious. Come on bang(sir) give a SMILE! Basically, the captions on the banner means:  "Moving forward undauntedly, Mr Johnny, already proven to fight anti-corruption". Hahaha! Fight corruption with shuriken, ninjutsu or kyuubi *EPIC* =D

PS: The source that i took still doesn't know if this banner is the real thing... hope it is not Soto shop... oops i mean Photoshop =)

Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2013 (AFA ID 2013) Review

It is my first time to AFA ID and I have mix feeling on about the event. Therefore, kind of difficult for me to write a proper report. Anyway, I will list between pro and con of the event.

Firstly, let me list out the cons from the beginning that i came to JCC around 11am:

1) There were so few ticket booths on that day, 6 to 7 booths that cater to thousand of people coming.

2) The queues to buy the ticket were so confusing, there were like 2 different starting queues which later bottleneck into 1 queue. (Estimated wait 2hrs+, so decided to buy it from the black market guy at Rp220,000 (USD$20) after negotiation for Ex + Stage ticket)

3) Entry queues was kind of weird that they restricted the entry for Ex ticket holder. I saw some of them waiting in line for more than an hour just to gain entry into the Exhibition.

4) For a famous event like this, the Exhibition Hall was just too compact and small. The movement of the crowd is trying to gain entry into Comiket haha...

5) Layout for B1 was very very small!!! Behind the food street area there is unused Hall which I believe can be use for resting area. While the Creator Hub and Cosplay Photozone deserved more spaces so that more people could easily access to buy doujinshi stuff or take pictures of the cosplayers.

6) Not sure about this but I wonder if there was any room for cosplayers to prepare themselves?? I saw a lot of cosplayers hogging the toilet mirror or changing to their costume.

Now the pros:

1) The Plenary Hall where the movie screening, guest appearance and concert was great. There are two floors so people could easily find seats. (Do take note of the stairs, a lot of people almost fell down due to unknown reason including me =,=)

2) The line up of guest appearance was fantastic with Aya Hirano, the main attention grabber. However, May'N, BABYMETAL and the other artists did not lose either with fans cheering and shouting.

3) The price of anime goodies seem to be cheaper compare to Singapore or Malaysia. I cannot confirm it.

Overall:

A decent event the stage crowd was fantastic and the line-up of artists were great. Still! The lack of manpower and disorganization by the organizer can be seem clearly. Especially, the organizer should have a least expected a huge crowd to visit the event while only having a decent size convention hall is kind of weird to me. When the visitors were tired no specific place to rest, most of them sat on staircase on toward the 2nd floor or a small space on B1 near the Food Street. I hope these problem could be address by the organizer on the next AFA ID if there is any.

International Cosplay Day Singapore 2013 (ICDS 2013)

Today is the day!! My first ICDS in Singapore!! It is at Orchard Road, SCAPE warehouse where some J-Artists had performed their concert before, Perfume, Scandal, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu just to name a few. There are special guests like Alodia (Cosplayer) and Jay Tablante (Photographer) from Philippines, Clive Lee (Cosplayer) and Yuanie (Cosplayer) from Singapore.

Of course not to forget the artist/doujin booths, cosplay contest, dances and interesting activities that you can participate in (Played WoW Bejeweled & Card game called "Crusade", I totally sucked at it even the person teaching me was kinda frustrated XD *sorry dude*). In addition, there is a post-event party and lucky draw and cosplay chess game (interesting concept!).

For a medium scale event it was great. It encourage the visitor to be active by particicipating the game if they want to join the voting for the cosplay chess game(CCG) which if voted the winning team can entitle them to join the lucky draw.

The performance of the CCG was very memorable for me, decent action scene and acting skill but there was some hick-up here and there on the sound/voice, hope they can improve it next year since this is event has been in the 3rd year but kudos to the cosplayers and staffs for the hard work (You guys deserved two thumbs up from me).

Overall, fun and enjoyable event! Manage to talk to Jay on Lin Minmei photograph (haha sorry a big Minmei fan =X), bought some goodies and participate on the activity and learn something new too (card game XD). For those that want to see the rest of the picture i took do visit my facebook album link below =)
